VALIDATION TRANSFER CREDIT
Credit is awarded to Registered Nurses
admitted to the program for comparable prerequisite courses from
accredited colleges, universities, and community colleges.
Students may transfer approved online course credits.
Validation credit for nursing courses equitable to DSU Nursing courses
will be awarded after the RN-BSN Program student has successfully
completed NUR 311 Comprehensive Health Assessment and NUR 358
Transition to Professional Nursing.
All
candidates for degrees must pass one of the following:
ENG 300 (the Writing Proficiency Examination)
or English 301 or
the CAAP Writing Essay Exam
prior to admission to the School of Nursing
APPLICATION PROCEDURE

1. Apply
to Delta State University and meet admission requirements as
outlined in the Delta State University Bulletin.

2. GPA
of 2.5 or better on a 4.0 scale.

3. Earn
a grade of “C” or better on
all courses applied toward the BSN degree.

4. Submit
the following information to the School of Nursing at
least one month prior to expected date of first semester of
enrollment. Students may be admitted and begin RN-BSN
courses during the Fall, Spring, or Summer Terms. Students
completing a full-time plan of study and enrolling initially during
Summer I term may be able to complete the course work in 12
consecutive months of study.

of transcripts. This is to be done by the REGISTRAR prior to
admission to Delta State University.

references utilizing School of Nursing forms and criteria. At
least one must be academic.

current license in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse
in Mississippi.

5. Students
must be graduates of NLNAC accredited programs.

6. All
students must have access to a computer, Microsoft Word and
PowerPoint, Internet and have computer keyboard
skills. (All course have a MAJOR online component. All
assignments are submitted online.)

358, must be completed prior to enrollment in any other RN-BSN
curriculum course. These courses will be offered each
semester/term (Fall, Spring, Summer). Other courses may be offered online during more
than one semester during the school year pending student need and

Upon successful completion of these courses and admission to
the School of Nursing, students may apply course credits toward the
RN-BSN completion program.
++NUR 404
(Advances in Nursing Practice) and NUR 407 (Directed Study) are to be
completed during the final semester of the student's tenure at Delta
State university.
No exceptions.
*Students must
enroll in these courses during the first semester of their Plan of
Study. Validation
credit for other nursing courses (taken in an associate or diploma
program) equitable to DSU nursing courses will be awarded after the
student successfully completes NUR 311 and NUR 358.
**NUR 309 may
either be taken during the initial semester of the student's Plan of
Study or as a co-requisite during the second enrolled semester in the
RN-BSN completion program.
