The Delta Rural Poll (DRP), is a periodic survey of residents living in
eleven Mississippi counties.
Originally founded by Dr.
Brent Hales and Dr. Alan Barton in 2003, the DRP arose
from the recognized need to obtain socioeconomic data from individuals
and households across the region. |
|
The DRP is now
led by Delta State University’s Institute for Community-Based Research
in partnership with the Division of Social Sciences and Center for
Community and Economic Development.
After seeking input
from community partners and other departments on campus, a faculty
committee creates, pilots and revises the DRP questionnaire.
Telephone survey data are collected by the
Wolfgang Frese Survey Research Laboratory at Mississippi State
University’s Social Science Research Center. A random sample of
households is selected to participate from eleven counties in the Delta
region (Bolivar, Coahoma, Humphreys, Issaquena, Leflore, Quitman,
Sharkey, Sunflower, Tallahatchie, Tunica and Washington). |
