| Criminal
Justice Certificate Program
Graduate
and Continuing Studies, in partnership with
the Division of Social Sciences' Criminal Justice
program, proposes the development of two (2)
certificate programs in Criminal Justice Studies.
The two programs proposed are (1) Basic Criminal
Justice Studies, and (2) Advanced Criminal Justice
Studies.

These
programs are designed for law enforcement practitioners
or those seeking careers in law enforcement, age 21
and over. Such practitioners may, or may not, be interested
in a degree program, but are in need of courses for
maintaining post-certification requirements, upgrading
professional skills, or for the enhancement of personal
growth and development.
Basic
Criminal Justice Studies
This
certificate program consists of four (4) courses (12
credit hours) that compose the Criminal Justice Core
as proposed for the 2002-2003 DSU Bulletin. These
courses are:
CRJ 200 - Criminal Justice Policy
and Practice
CRJ 205 - Introduction and Philosophy
of Law Enforcement
CRJ 210 - Organization and Philosophy
of Corrections
CRJ 215 - Organization and Philosophy
of Juvenal Justice
Upon completion of these courses (minimum grade of
"C" in each course) the student will be
awarded the Certificate of Completion of Basic Criminal
Justice Studies.
Advanced
Criminal Justice Studies
This
certificate program consists of four (4) courses (12
credit hours) that compose the Criminal Justice Core,
as proposed for the 2002-2003 DSU Bulletin, and an
additional eighteen (18) credit hours of criminal
justice (CRJ) courses. Upon successful completion
of these courses (minimum grade of "C" in
each course) the student will be awarded the Certificate
of Completion of Advanced Criminal Justice Studies.
