PROBLEM ONE:
A graduate student is interested in doing their Master’s thesis on the subject
of hand-to-hand combat training and an officer’s use of force training.
Fifteen officers are selected to take part in the student’s study. Over
a period of 2 years these officers are provided the opportunity to participate
in weekly physical tactics training sessions. During this same time
period, the number of excessive force complaints filed against these officers
is recorded. At the end of the 2 year period, the student collects data
on the number of complaints filed and the number of hours each week that the
officers trained in physical tactics. This data is available in the data
file:

PROBLEM TWO:
A researcher is interested in determining whether there is any correlation
between physical training and mental testing ability. Ten subjects are
selected to participate in the study. Each participant is required to
run a two mile race. As each participant finishes the race they are
ranked 1 through 10. These same participants then take a statistics
examination. Based on the scores of the examination, participants are
then ranked 1 through 10. The results of this data collection are
available in the data file
