Staff Development Fund Guidelines

Purpose
The Staff Development Fund is an allocated fund designed to assist staff members in furthering their professional goals when those goals relate to the Delta State University's organizational objectives and mission. It is intended to supplement or pay for activities that are required to meet stated job requirements or essential job functions that cannot be paid from the appropriate department budget. It is also intended to help those who wish to expand their knowledge in areas not specified in their current job description or their own area of specialization - but such knowledge would benefit the organizational goals of Delta State University.

Application Guidelines
The application form is available at the Human Resource Department. The application form should be submitted at least sixty (60) days before the date of the class or conference or activity for which funding is requested. Awards up to a maximum of $300.00 will be made for any individual request, with no more than a total of $300.00 to be awarded to an individual per fiscal year.

  • All materials purchased by monies from the fund will become DSU property when the activity is completed.
  • Registration fees to attend a professional conference or seminar will qualify for funding.
  • Hotel, travel, meals, membership fees, and associated costs will not qualify for funding. (Exception: Documentation indicating that your department has exhausted all available budgets and accounts.)
  • Staff may apply for more than one activity (seminar, workshop, conference, etc.) during the fiscal year.

Recommendation to disperse funds will be made by the Staff Development Committee of the Administrative Staff Council and forwarded to the Staff Council Chair. The Staff Council Chair and the Staff Development Chair will make the final decision regarding awards.
