A Vocational
Administrators Academy-type training has been envisioned by vocational
education administrators for some time.
A survey of vocational education administrators has revealed that
many of them are approaching their date of licensure renewal and are not
on track for timely completion of sufficient SEMI credits. The Vocational Administrators Academy is not meant to
supplant the well designed SEMI training that will continue to be
available to all administrators, but it will provide additional training
that will have been designed by the vocational education administrators
themselves to meet their special needs.
An advisory committee
for the purpose of designing the SEMI training is established.
DAAIS is providing leadership for the design of the training
and as the sponsoring agent.
DAAIS is promoting the training, handling the scheduling,
facilitating the training sessions, and preparing the reports for the
Mississippi Department of Education.
The Vocational
Education Administrators Academy is open to all Mississippi vocational
education administrators and other Mississippi administrators who have
vocational administration responsibilities.
Mississippi vocational
education administrators are among those who will be leading the
sessions.
The Vocational
Education Administrators Academy consists of five stand-alone
two-day training sessions, each earning ten (10) SEMI credits.
A typical daily agenda
will begin at 8:30 a.m. and end at 4:15 p.m. This provides for 61/4 contact hours daily.
Active participation and 100% attendance are among the
requirements for earning SEMI credit.
