Margo Baker, Editor

Margo Baker was born in Downey, California, and raised in Perryville, Arkansas, and is currently enjoying her senior year at Delta State while pursuing a Bachelor's degree in English with teacher certification. Her writing specialties include several forms of journalistic writings, formal essays, and some dabblings in poetry. She started out as copy editor for The Delta Statement her freshman year Fall 2006 and ended as Managing Editor in Spring 2009 to work as Editor in Chief of Confidante Fall 2009-Spring 2010. Her first and second place formal essays have appeared in Confidante 2008 with the first place winner debuting in second at the Southern Literary Festival. Her poetry has appeared on Poetry.com, as well as in one of their books for award-winning poems.

  Jessi Malatesa, Managing Editor

Jessi Malatesta is currently an undergraduate student at Delta State University and is majoring in Creative Writing while studying for minors in Spanish and Art. She is the Managing Editor of the Confidante and loves reading the variety of excellent work submitted by students to the magazine. Though primarily an artist, she hopes to someday combine her love of art and writing to create and publish her own graphic novel series. Her interests include reading, painting, writing, playing the flute, and fighting crime.

  Felecia Jenkins, Poetry Editor

Felecia Jenkins is a native of Shaw, Mississippi. She is currently a Junior English Education major, seeking an endorsement in Special Education. Her poem entitled “Surprise Attacks” has been displayed on Poetry.com, as well as being published in the book Inscriptions in Time. This is her first semester working on the Confidante staff.

Shannon Woodward, Fiction Editor

Shannon Woodward is a senior English major at Delta State University.  She has lived in Cleveland, MS all her life and has two cats.  She's been part of the Confidante staff for two semesters and has enjoyed every second of it.

Mallory Kendall, Marketing

Mallory Kendall was born in Cleveland, MS and graduated from Cleveland High School in May of 2009 where she was the Vice-President of the International Thespian Honor Society Troupe 5517, Reporter for the Interact Club, Captain of the Envirothon Team, the Wildcat mascot, and a photographer and writer for The Delta Daze yearbook.  Mallory is currently a double major at Delta State University in Biology/Pre-Vet and journalism.  She is a photographer for The Broom, Photo Editor for The Delta Statement, and the Director of Marketing for Confidante.  Mallory spends most of her time writing poetry and short stories, working on her novels, and writing plays.  She has also been involved in working with animals in both training, handling, and health for most of her life.  Much of her poetry comes from her days working at the Frisco Horse Park as a volunteer, as well as from her days working at both The Dog House (training and boarding) as a handler and The Cleveland-Bolivar County Animal Shelter as a volunteer.

  Olivia Wilbanks, Assistant Editor

Olivia Wilbanks is a freshman English Education major at Delta State University.  From Olive Branch, Mississippi, Olivia is involved in the BSU, RUF, Confidante, and is a Dean's Scholar.

  Dr. Gabriel Scala, Confidante Advisor

Gabriel Scala is an Assistant Professor of English at Delta State University where she teaches such courses as Introduction to Poetry & Drama, Modern Poetry, Contemporary Literature, and Creative Writing.  Dr. Scala, with many years of editorial experience on literary journals such as Mid-American Review, Yalobusha Review, Valley Humanities Review, and Tapestry, also advises the Confidante staff and teaches the Literary Magazine Workshop each semester.
