How do people organize themselves into large and small groups?  How can we understand the diversity of human behavior in the world?  We will study systems of social control within families, churches, schools, governments, economic systems, and other social groups to understand general patterns of social organization.  Topics include culture, socialization, gender, race, social class, and social change.
