- Describe how modern society is changing due to globalization and postmodernity

Upon completion of this unit, you will be able to:
- List and describe four characteristics of social change
- Identify the four stages of a social movement, and describe each
- Name six causes of social change, and contrast the differences between them
- Distinguish classical theories of modern society offered by thinkers such as Ferdinand Tönnies, Emile Durkheim, Max Weber and Karl Marx
- List five characteristics of postmodernity
