Assignment:  Write a two-page reflective essay on the readings using the following as a guideline:

In the last chapters of his book, Korten offers "civil society" as an alternative path to "capitalist society."  He argues that several movements have contributed to the development of civil society, including efforts to curb corporate power, promote ecological sustainability and expand and deepen democracy.  Define civil society and discuss the contribution made by one of these movements.  Considering Korten's argument, reflect on the extent to which you think civil society will be included in discourse about the future of the Mississippi Delta in this global age.
