Korten distinguishes between development and economic growth. He maintains that we have lost track of human well-being as a result of powerful institutional interests and their pursuit of profit. Summarize and apply Korten’s argument to the case of the Mississippi Delta. What has been the dominant focus of political and economic policies for the region – development or growth?
