Stiglitz Chapters 1-3

Assignment:  Write a two-page reflective essay on the readings using the following as a guideline:

Stiglitz maintains that globalization has helped many countries grow more quickly than they might otherwise have done, increasing the standard of living for millions of people.  Yet, the promise of a better life for all people has been broken and the gap between the “haves” and the “have-nots” is widening.

According to Stiglitz, what has gone wrong with globalization, especially in regard to global institutions?  Draw on evidence from previous readings, discussions, and other presentations in the course to support or refute Stiglitz’ argument.
