Course Materials: Text: John J. Macionis, 2008, Society: The Basics (Second Custom DSU Edition), Pearson/Prentice Hall, Upper Saddle River, NJ. ISBN: 0-536-11583-4. Writing Notebook: We will use a Blue Book examination book, 11" x 8.5", with at least 8 sheets, for informal writing. The campus bookstore sells one that is suitable, for less than 50 cents. You may need two of these over the course of the semester. Bring your writing notebook to the second day of class, January 16. The text and writing notebook are available at the campus bookstore. You should purchase the text, or otherwise make arrangements to access the course reading assignments on a regular basis, including bringing a copy of the text to class.
