Arezzo is a beautiful, small town south of Florence. It took us about an hour by train to arrive in the town whose cafe was featured in the movie It's a Beautiful Life. The town was heavily bombed during WWII. Arezzo is a fortress town that sits on a hill overlooking a valley. The town is surrounded by a stone wall and contains the ruins of a Medici castle. We visited the Church of San Francesco, a 13th century church with a Gothic, rough block exterior. It contains Piero della Francesca's fresco, The Legend of the True Cross (1452-1466).
